I watched the Biggest Loser finalists run a marathon last week - from my recliner while I ate chocolate. The entire two hours I sat there, I couldn't help but think, "If they can do it, I can too." I've dabbled in what most would probably NOT consider "running" for the last year and a half or so. I've entered and run some 5Ks and an 8K. When I run it's always at least between 3 and 5 miles. 3 is comfortable for me, and I would probably be happy doing that same three miles forever.
My 35th birthday is one week from today and I can honestly say that I have never stuck with anything. That is not something that I am proud of. But today I intend to change that. I've set goals for myself since I was a kid. I'm a list maker. If it's on a list, chances are it's going to get accomplished. Unless, however, it requires more than a few week's worth of effort. Again, not something I'm proud of. Today I made a new list and I started training for a half marathon - 13.1 miles. I believe we were all created to live in accountability with eachother and that is exactly what I hope to acheive through this blog.
This will be a journey for me. Hopefully one that will improve not only my body, but my mind and my spirit as well. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and I know I can meet this goal only by strength given from the one who never faints or becomes weary. He will supply all I need, and to Him be the glory.
