Not much progress today

Yesterday was filled with meetings and doctor's appointments.  Today, more doctor's appointments.  Having some tests run Monday to figure out what's going on in my esophagus.  So, I'm at a standstill for a bit.  Running has triggered some major acid reflux for me, so I'm taking it easy until after tests on Monday.  I'm sure everything will be fine, but I would like to get to the bottom of the problem so we can find a fix.  Thanks for your prayers!

No more days - I can't keep track!

I took a couple of days off.  Sundays are always very busy days for me and Monday was my birthday.  I ran a short 3 miles yesterday with Ryan.  I've been asking him to run with me for a long time so it was nice to get him out there with me.  Hopefully I can get 5 in tonight.  No rain please!

Day 6: 5.25 very loooooooooong miles on the treadmill

Have I ever mentioned that I hate treadmills?  Well, I do.  I hate knowing that I'm running my little heart out and literally getting NOWHERE.  It's tiring, long and boring.  But, I managed to muster through 5.25 miles today and it KILLED me!  At least I hit my 20 mile goal for the week.

Tomorrow is probably a rest day and then I'll get back at it on Monday.  Looks like the rain is on it's way in to stay for a while.  As long as it's not icy I can still run outdoors.  It's that darn ice that gets in my way.  Pray for no more ice!

Day 5: Friday, Dec. 11 - Nada!

Had much to do around the house today, so I didn't make it out for a run.  Will shoot for tomorrow!

Day 4: Slow and steady 3.2

For some reason it took all I had to get out there and run today.  I put it off all day, and then when I finally got out on the road, I didn't really have the energy to run any further.  Why are some days good and some days, well, not so good?  At least I did my 3.  Tomorrow's another day!

Day 3: Rest day

My body needed a little break from the day before.  Surprisingly enough, though, I wasn't as sore as I thought I would be.  That's a good sign :)  Back at it tomorrow!

Day 2: 8.62 completely exhilarating miles in the cold but beautiful sun!

Do you remember the scene in Forrest Gump when he ran and he just kept running because he didn't see the need to stop?  Well, that's how I felt today.  I left the house with the intention of doing my usual 3.3 mile out and back run, but as I approached my house I just decided to go a little further.  Little did I know at the time that I would continue for another 5+ miles.  That is my longest run EVER!  I was very proud of myself :) and now I am hurting.  But it was so worth every little bit of pain.  Nothing a little ibuprofen won't help :)

It was a good day.  A good 8.62 day :)

Day 1: 3.6 miles in 30 degree weather with wind!

I watched the Biggest Loser finalists run a marathon last week - from my recliner while I ate chocolate.  The entire two hours I sat there, I couldn't help but think, "If they can do it, I can too."  I've dabbled in what most would probably NOT consider "running" for the last year and a half or so.  I've entered and run some 5Ks and an 8K.  When I run it's always at least between 3 and 5 miles.  3 is comfortable for me, and I would probably be happy doing that same three miles forever.

My 35th birthday is one week from today and I can honestly say that I have never stuck with anything.  That is not something that I am proud of.  But today I intend to change that.  I've set goals for myself since I was a kid.  I'm a list maker.  If it's on a list, chances are it's going to get accomplished.  Unless, however, it requires more than a few week's worth of effort.  Again, not something I'm proud of.  Today I made a new list and I started training for a half marathon - 13.1 miles.  I believe we were all created to live in accountability with eachother and that is exactly what I hope to acheive through this blog.

This will be a journey for me.  Hopefully one that will improve not only my body, but my mind and my spirit as well.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, and I know I can meet this goal only by strength given from the one who never faints or becomes weary.  He will supply all I need, and to Him be the glory.
